The Second Set+Encore was an INCIDENT
First set was good, not great but the second... WOW. These guys throw down so hard and adapt so well. This followed by the STS9 set afterwards was definitely the musical highlight of the weekend for me. Five stars for the second set/encore.

AMAZING
This night was my favorite of the their three nights in the Forest. THIS was what I had been waiting for all year long! The experience during Rivertrance? I could go on about all the wonderful jams of this evening, but I'll just leave it at long live the cheese and hope to see them and everyone at the Forest next year!!

Praise and Gratitude
From those of us who cannot get to all these shows - praise and gratitude to the Tapers! Thank you!
I'm a self confessed SBD snob and til recently would rarely go near an aud tape. That said, the quality, clarity, and just plain excellence of the aud tapes being produced this summer is jaw dropping. In fact, they're every bit as good as most matrix feeds.
Straight out - I go to shows for the music - I don't care how deeply and loudly the crowd get's into it while the band is playing and nothing cranks me more than whurffling yahoo's practicing their psuedo-Indian tribe-yawps in the middle of a sweet jam. Didn't Donna ruin enough tapes?
Point here? This show is great and the recording is crisp, clean, and largely devoid of background nattering. Like a quality "store bought" LP/CD - you get the 'vibe' of a large crowd having a wonderful time - far away. Stellar job!
So - to any other SBD snobs - grab this sucka! Don't let the glasses fool ya - it's a demon of hot jams cleverly disguised as an aud tape.

Thanks!
I met you at the EOTO and first two Cheese shows (I was the local writer). I too was somewhat amazed and disheartened that there were so few tapers at the EFF. I may be interested in getting a rig set up and will be in touch when I have some free time!

Sunday Was Not Recorded :(
Sorry folks, only three tapers at the entire EFF and all three of us had to leave Sunday. We got a few Sunday shows taped, but not Cheese. I encourage anyone thinking about getting into this hobby to email me (my email is in the source info) and I can help get you started. All it takes is $400 to get really great recordings. Lots of people spend LOTS more, but it's more important to get these things recorded than to get the best quality possible. Even at $400, lots of five star shows on archive, so don't think it takes a fortune to do this. PLEASE people, taping is dying and we need more people to join us. Three tapers at a festival the size of EFF is frankly quite discouraging to those of us that get it done! The good news though is that I've been at it for 15 years now and I'm not stopping.
